Paphos
Paphos is a coastal city in the south-west of Cyprus and it is the capital of the Paphos District. The city is the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. Today the city is a beautiful seaside resort gaining popularity amongst tourists and home-buyers alike. It is divided into two major areas; Ktima is the main residential district and Kato Pafos is built around the medieval port and contains most of the luxury hotels and entertainment sites of the city.
The region enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate. It rarely rains in the hot summer months and heat waves are relatively common in July and August when hot air masses arrive in Cyprus from the Sahara desert. Coral Bay is the main beach in Paphos with soft sand and deep blue water and it is the perfect place for sun-tanning, swimming and a variety of water sports.
Paphos is served by Paphos International Airport which is located 10 km southeast of the city near Timi. It serves approximately 1.75 million people every year and a new terminal is currently under construction. There is plenty of nightlife on offer in the city with a whole street dedicated to its clubs and bars. A wide choice of international and meze restaurants are also on offer at the beach promenade.
Popular attractions in the region include:
